Regular weekday evening ATC cadet activities
The Air Training Corps (ATC) arranges a wide range of activities for cadets. We are only limited by funds, suitable subject instructors and the enthusiasm of the cadets to undertake any activity.

To an extent therefore, cadets can determine what they do, provided the Squadron is able to fund an activity and identify a suitable instructor.

Typical weekday activities may include:
  • Being taught radio procedures
  • Practising drill and holding a parade
  • Undertaking problem-solving exercises
  • Planning a Duke of Edinburgh exercise
  • Taking part in an evening field exercise
  • Visiting a local Squadron for a sporting event
  • Learning the theory of flight
  • Assisting another Squadron in an exercise
Then on a Thursday evening you might join the target-shooting cadets and work towards obtaining your marksman qualifications.

Additional ATC activities
At weekends and during holidays there are often additional activities that may include:
  • Flying a powered aircraft
  • Gliding
  • Competing in inter-Squadron & regional sports events
  • Participating in local parades and events
  • Flying on an operational RAF refuelling flight
Then during the summer you can attend summer Adventure Training camps run at operational RAF bases throughout the UK.
